Student and pregnant

I really would appreciate any advice anyone has on my situation.

I am currently doing a PGCE and am 7 months pregnant (extremely tiring) My final placement finishes in 5 weeks and i will recieve my final bursary on the 5th June (£666). I have not had a student loan over the past year as i have been living off my monthly bursary.

My question is: I live with my dad (partner lives in another town at the moment) will i be able to claim income support? and if so when from? In some information i received from uni the course officially finishes the 30th July, we actually finish on the 6th July though.

Thankyou for any help you can offer

There shouldn't be a problem, as you would qualify under the caring for someone route. You would need take along proof of when your course officially ended which in this case is June 2007.

Yeah I'd agree with my_two_cents. They'll want proof of what you've been doing / living off which is why you need proof of when the course ends. If the paperwork all says July 30 then you either can't claim before then or you need to get someone from the course to write a letter explaining.

Living with parents doesn't usually affect IS claims; it's only really living with a partner that gets their income taken into consideration. Don't forget to notify tax credits too if you're not already receiving the maximum amount.
