Mould on walls

Hi I have some brown mould developing on my walls
I was going to get a damp proof report done but I have heard they often find issues so they can then quote for some work they do to generate extra income
Does anyone know any independent companies that just do an assessment but have no interest in finding extra stuff to do
I read about dampbusters and looked at them online and they seem good but has anyone used them or know costs
Also could this be caused by a leaking gutter as I think there is a gap in the gutter on the wall where the mould is forming
Any advice on how to find the source of the problem from somebody trustworthy would really help

Yes, but you have to pay them. We found ours on the PCA website and his survey cost £200 but was worth every penny!0

+1 for getting an independant damp surveyor in. Our's cost £180 and saved us thousands that a damp company had quoted us for a new DPC. Here's the site where you can find a surveyor:

If you think it's the guttering though, probably best to check that first.0 -
Thanks the room in question is maybe 3.5m x 3m and also has some old aluminium patio doors and there is mould also forming around the patio door frame it is small and brown - I guess the door needs replacing as there is a lot of damp around it and probably water coming from outside
I will fix the gutter and take off the wallpaper where the damp is and paint the walls with damp sealer for now and see if that helps - if not next step will be the Independent damp report
Thanks for your help0
