List A: Companies That DON'T Do Landlord's Insurance
Hiscox
Marks and Spencer
Ecclesiastical
LV Insurance
List B: Companies That DO Landlord Insurance And I Found Good Reviews
I found good reviews online for these companies OR they were featured positively in the Which report. In some cases some of these had very mixed reviews actually, which means better than average, since bad reviews outnumber good ones.
Nationwide Building Society
UIA Insurance
Simply Business
Alan Boswell
Peacock
NFU Mutual
John Lewis Specialist Insurance (main property you live in must be insured with them too)
List C: Companies That DO Landlord Insurance And I Couldn't Find Good Reviews
Most companies on this list had generally bad reviews when I searched online. Some I couldn't find any reviews at all. One or two said they wouldn't offer insurance directly, only through brokers.
Direct Line
Axa
Group Ama
Zurich
Rentguard
Towergate
Payment Shield
CIA Insurance
Discount Landlord
Simple Landlord's Insurance
Natwest
City Landlord
Quote Line Direct
Intasure
Legal and General

Comments/Disclaimer:
1. What constitutes "good" or "bad" reviews online overall is clearly subjective to interpretation and dependent on which websites I look at - Review Centre was one of the ones I used. I would welcome comments and disagreement to give people more info.
2. Where I couldn't find specific reviews for landlord's insurance I had to use reviews for home insurance instead, so this may limit the relevance of the reviews.
3. I have no personal experience of dealing with any of those companies as a customer, this is purely based on googling and some short enquiry phone calls.
4. When I say a company does or does not provide landlord insurance this could be wrong if a person in the call centre makes a mistake or there is a misunderstanding, or the policy changes in the future.
5. This is in no way intended to be a comprehensive list of companies that provide landlord's insurance. I just compiled the list from a few other lists of landlord's insurance companies, general insurance companies, and companies noted on forums.
While there are some limitations then to the value of the info here, I did it because there seems to be so little info online, at least to a casual 5-minute google, about who does landlord insurance and how good they are, they are thought this would be relevant to people in a similar position to me who are looking for landlord's insurance but maybe new to being a landlord and don't know the market.
Hope it's helpful to someone.
