Question About The Date Of Being Paid PILON & Redundancy Payments

I am due to finish work from my company this Friday, (5th July), I am entitled to 11 weeks notice and my notice started on the 21st June and by mutual agreement I said I would work up to the 5th July, can anyone please advise me about when I should get my PILON & redundancy payments ?.
I have been told by my general manager that it will be paid on the company's next pay day, (26th July), but surely if I finish on the 5th July I should be paid on the 5th.
Some of my wife's friends who's spouses have been made redundant in the past have all said that they got their money on the day they finished and not on the official company pay day.
Any advice would be helpful as I only have 3 working days left and would rather not have to wait another 3 weeks to be paid my final salary.

In my final 1:1 last week, i asked this question about final payment date as in the money advise service booklet it says you should be paid on your final day. Initially i got told it was going to be at the end of the month, they are going to get back to me to confirm.
  • My general manager is off site today but I have found out he is waiting for a message/e-mail from payroll.
I hope its good news with only 2 days to go.

If you were given notice on 20 June then the 11 weeks would end on 5 September.

Are you and your manager sure that you are being paid PILON? Though you are not working beyond this Friday, could it be that you are on "gardening leave" (ie still an employee for the remainder of your notice period but not required to attend for work)?

If you are technically remaining as an employee expect to be paid on the normal dates - and, for the final week, whenever you would be paid for September. They may pay earlier but could leave it till later unless your contract actually includes something about paying ahead of normal dates when it is the final payment.

it is fairly normal to process final payment/ redundancy in the regular pay run.
the reality is they can make you wait even longer what can you do?
  • So I finished work on Friday, I am now in the ranks of the un-employed....bit of a shock as it is my first time in 32 years not having a job.
Come Monday I will start the search for a new job with a vengeance after visiting the job center to see about JSA/signing on, (not holding my breath for a lot of help from them:D), & council to see about HB, (again not holding my breath...:D), fingers crossed I won't need to claim either:).
BTW I did get an official answer to when I get my PILON & redundancy payments, it will be the next company payroll day, (26/07/2013).

  • Just a quick note, I went to my local Tesco's on Tuesday for a "open" job recruitment day. There was over 30 people there all looking for a job at said Tesco's, (they had a "open" recruitment day on Monday as well), after 3 hours of joint interviews, team building exercises & a work trial on the shop floor I got a phone call in the Tuesday evening with Tesco's offering me a job :)... My induction is on Saturday
