I have an EBT who suddenly developed a really painful and itchy skin condition when he was around 3 and a half years old.

At first the vet gave him steroid injections and these did work, but only temporarily, and I did not feel comfortable leaving him on steroids for the rest of his life.

I got talking to a lady in the street who told me about a powder Pets at Home sell for around £12 a packet, I bought it and it did absolutely nothing for him, although she swore by it!

I found that the best way to try and get to the bottom of the problem is diet - my friend owns a pet shop so I talked to him and I changed my dog's food to a brand that was sensitive and specifically gentle on dog's stomachs. In a few days the change was amazing - he had stopped itching, I started to apply some ointment to his skin and slowly it began to heal - no more pink sore patches!

Occasionally he will still scratch, I think he is just into the habit of doing it because as soon as you distract him he forgets about it, whereas before NOTHING would stop him itching!
The more one gets to know of men, the more one values dogs.
