buying high end car from motorpoint?

I am looking to purchase a landrover evoque and came across a deal on Motorpoint for about £5k less than list price. Having paid my deposit, I have now found out via the backdoor that the car is a parallel import to EU spec and I am now a bit concerned about buying such an expensive car as an import. I don't think insurance should be an issue in terms of extra cost but I am wondering if this could potentially affect the resale - I would only plan to keep the car 2/3 years tops. I have asked Motorpoint for a full specification of the car but so far they haven't been able to provide it. I can pull out of the purchase as I wasn't informed it was an import prior to paying my deposit (they have said so) and I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of buying high end cars from them and what the experience is on re-sale? I am also concerned with the spec of the vehicle - it is coming from Cyprus so apparently it was made in the UK but imported for sale in Cyprus but I still am not sure if it will be an exact match and I do want all the toys. Anyone bought one by any chance? My instincts are telling me to pull out and pay the additional £5k from an official dealer. The car has 2 year warranty provided by Motorpoint and reckon it is this EU one. Any thoughts would be appreciated and helpful, thank you

You put down a deposit for a car without checking full specification or the source of the vehicle?

Why exactly did you think it was £5k cheaper?

Very brave buying a Landrover with only a 2 year warranty!

It'll have a lower resale value due to being an import, and you may have LR warranty issues (which may be why Motorpoint are offering one?).

I'd see what deal you can get from Land Rover for a UK spec one.
  • Other brokers are offering smaller but still worthwhile savings on the Evoke - the latest Whatcar roundup of deals suggests autoebid. http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/latest-car-deals/new-car-deals--honda-to-peugeot/261959
Obviously double check they are offering UK spec cars.

It will be worth less when you resell but your paying less for itin the 1st place.

Compared to the money your going to lose on it anyway then its probably going to be chicken feed.

Do you know what its going to be worth in 3 years. I do hope you lay down flat on a hard surface because your heart will still sink.

Buy through a broker as usually they will source & supply from dealer. Anything else is just long term folly with higher depreciation and quibbles from future buyers and funders.
