Kitten food - is it worth it?

oh, and you know to be careful not to feed them the cooked bones of a chicken carcass don't you? Raw bones are fine, great for teeth in fact, but cooked ones can be dangerous.
You could even get them some day Old Chicks, available as frozen items in many pet shops, intended mainly for reptile food but ideal for cats.0 -

If you want a decent, cheapish tinned food then Zooplus sells Animonda Carny in 800g tins.
However, if they are happy eating assorted wild life (ooh, no 'kitten' version there, tut tut ) then I would go down the raw route....get the butcher to hack a chicken up into smallish chunks, add lumps of kidney, heart or liver and feed them food the way nature intended!
Thanks, I wasn't sure if a marketing gimmick or not. I had my first cat when aged 4, 30+ years ago and there was none of this kitten/senior food thing then.
From what I could find when searching, kitten food has more protein, more fat and smaller pieces (not an issue for these!) and I thought they would be getting more protein from the wildlife.paddypaws101 wrote: »oh, and you know to be careful not to feed them the cooked bones of a chicken carcass don't you? Thanks for the reminder on the cooked bones, I had forgotten this as it's been so long (my pampered house cat will only eat gourmet cat food).
Not so keen on the day old chicks, as don't want them developing a taste - we have hens and chickens wandering around the farm yard0
