Which is best for me Rugby, Milton Keynes or Northampton?

  • I have lived in a few places in England and I have to say Milton Keynes has by far been my favourite. I am in the process of buying here! I would suggest Milton Keynes all the way, as previously mentioned the RedWays makes everything very easily accessiable. I would also recomend Newport Pagel, which is a little town inside Milton Keynes. Its got its own little town center and there are redways from it all the way to the town center as well. The health Center there is also very friendly and I have been to the Hospital recently and the staff there were also very friendly and welcoming.

Newport has lots of beautiful Green parks and walking areas most of which have redways as well. and the the town itself feels to me like a retriement village :)

The negative side to it though is as Newport Pagnell has the best schools in Milton Keynes the house prices are alittle pricey, even when renting.

Currently we are renting a 2 bed terrance house with a back garden and it looks out over a huge green field. This is 700 a month though!

Thanks for your tips & £700 PM is around our budget & hopefully would get us somewhere.

    Another vote for MK!

If it helps at all here's a list I did for a relative when they were looking to move here. My preference is for the Western flank - mostly very nice estates.

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

Shenley Woods has a new purpose built retirement village complex that could suit your needs?

Oooh yes, that actually sounds ideal for the OP. I know someone who lives there and it's fab. I would live there but I'm under 55 so not allowed! Definitely not an 'old people's home' in the traditional sense. The apartments themselves are lovely - bright, airy and spacious and are fully set up for disabled persons, totally accesible. It really is a lovely place with a great community feel and lots going on. It's just 5 mins away from Westcroft shopping centre but it even has it's own shop, bar, restaurant, cafe, gym etc

Sorry Dan-Dan, just wouldn't choose to live there - area is a bit run down with quite a few HMO's. I'm sure lots of people live there and are very happy, just given the choice I wouldn't!
