Maybe a better place for this would be the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning board - but

Did your husband die whilst still in service i.e. working for this company?
If so, I'm assuming the Pension administrators knew that your husband had died.
    Did they?

They should have told you at that stage whether there was a widow's pension (or maybe even a lump sum) due to you.

Did you get any letters from the Pension administrators at all at the time of your husband's death?

If your husband died after he retired (and was therefore receiving his works pension), I assume you wrote to tell them he'd died.
Again, they should have written to you at that time to tell you whether there was a widow's pension due to you and if any pension underpayment or even pension overpayment in respect of the pension your husband was receiving was due on his death.

Did your husband have a deferred pension with the company in question?

If your Husband got his pension before you married him you may not get it.

I think the replies so far just show that the OP really needs to come back with more information for anyone to help any further. :)

Don't you just love new posters that come on with what (to me) is an important question then disappear  Unless there is a good reason?

I guess it's still early days yet.

I was just reading through the replies and thought there's so many questions and possible scenarios that we do really need to know more before we can help any further. :)

I am just getting my OAP but have been getting an old occupational pension for several years. I have always ensured my affairs are sorted in such a way that if anything happened to me the options left for my wife are nicely typed up in the right folder in the home paperwork filing box. Again (I stress in my case but no idea if this is the normal) should I die my wife carry's on getting a slightly reduced pension for the rest of her life & a lump sum on my death.

Given that the OPs husband died "a few years ago" I assume that it isn't actually that important / urgent to them....

it could also be that they are unable to relocate their original post - it can be quite difficult on a fast moving board like this when you have no posting history to help you.
