This morning pouches of Tilda rice were £1 - this afternoon they are £1.59 or 'special offer' from tomorrow of 2 for £2
Why, oh why, can't Trading Standards (or which ever body it is) step in and stop this type of 'special offer' - and I know it is not just Tescos !

Where is the old trick?
Normally £1.59, been on promotion at £1 and now going on promotion at 2 for £2.
Would you prefer them just to stay at £1.59 all year long so there is no old trick?
Trading standards would laugh at you for good reason.0 -
Tesco do that a lot, a few weeks ago wholewheat spaghetti was 50p a pack, then they put the price up and then back down to 2 for £1.50.
I didnt buy it at that price. Id rather go without or shop somewhere that the prices are more or less consistent such as Aldi.
I think the rice was normally £1 and gone up to £1.59 and now £2 for two so not really any saving, just juggling figures to make people think they are getting a bargain.0 -

I have bought these many times over the last 6 months and never had to pay £1.59 - for the vast majority of the time they are the equivalent of £1.
Legally products have to have been on sale at the higher price for 28 days, so it is something that Trading standards could look at.
From MySupermarket - the average price over the last year is £1.02

There is your key word in bold above. Your little picture shows the SRP to generally be £1.58/£1.59 so no trick

Every supermarket does things like this, not just Tesco.0

Then why doesn't it make the headlines more often? No wonder the police are overstretched chucking people with complaints out of suopermarkets, surely this is a civil matter anyway and the police should decline to become involved. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -
