Hi Everyone, i have just tried to pay my full balance on Aqua Card website, and it came back as unsuccessful so i thought i had done something incorrect and re entered all my details and it still came back unsuccessful, i called my bank to make sure that they had not gone through only to find out that the 2 transactions were pending on my account. I then called aqua card customer servicse back and they told me that there was nothing they could do, and could not explain to me why it was coming up as unsuccessful and because it had not shown up on my account they couldn't do anything for me and advised me that it could take up to 5 days to get the £650 pounds back, i mean i dont want that much back as I want one of the payments to go through, I was also told that the call centre was so busy that there was no one in seniority that could call me back. I find it totally appalling that it takes a millionth of a second to come out of your account and they say it could take up to 5-7 days to get it back, why is the banking system so slow at processing refunds? I have ebettually got in touch with SAV credit PR company who said they would get someone to call me back within 1/2 hr, so lets see if that happens, anyone any ideas how i can get through to these people that they can reverse the auth on my 2 transactions?

TL : DR - "I went to pay my Aquacard online with my Debit card. They authorised the payment twice but told me they had been declined.
I don't want to have to wait for the pending authorisations to automatically drop off my debit card in 5-7 days, what can I do?"
Answer:
Raise a formal complaint with Aqua. It is technically possible for them to contact their card merchant and ask that they reverse the pending authorisations immediately. Finding the person in Aqua who knows how to do this will be a freakin' nightmare, however.

It can happen that the account name or address returned by the debited bank is not exactly the same as the debited account. So the company you're paying will refuse the payment but the debited bank will authorise it because it's within their parameters.
All you can do is wait for the reserved funds to be unclaimed and returned to your balance; Probably around 10 to 14 days.0
