ppi rejection over the phone

Hi all.

Im new to this site so I apologise if this question has been asked before.
Ive contacted MBNA via telephone regarding 2 credit card accounts I have with them, they contacted me back last week via a phone call stating I have never paid PPI on either account therefore I have no claim for mis-sold product. I only have statements online and not in paper form and they only date back for 2 years and I've had both cards for approx 6/7years. My question is, if they have told me I have never paid PPI is it worth me trying to follow anything up as Im not that confident in the company and its transparency given the whole PPI rigmarole???

Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Stewy923

    I only have statements online

Check these, if you're paying PPI it will be itemised on every monthly statement (if there's an outstanding balance)
  • Iv had same issues. I got a list of transactions and it was slammed with allsorts of charges and fees, then in last 6mths b4 paid off a finance charge started appearing eery month on top of all the other fees and charges. Over just short of 3yrs that card was active and there was almost £3g of charges on it. Had a letter back from mbna saying no ppi on it matter closed. Iv sent forms and statements off to FOS. On the other money advice page its been mentioned that mbna used several names for charges and ppi. Im nit trusting there final response. The finance charges alone were £500. Rip off credit card.

The important thing is whether you were paying PPI or not. It is not hidden in the charges. It is an explicit charge showing on the statement.

If you are going to refer it to the FOS, then it makes sense to back up your view you were paying PPI. You have the details to check that.

  • Well tbh i was going for unfair charges of the almost £3g. It was when i was on the other forum a user mentioned that he was aware they used different names for charges. I have sent mine off to the fos for the charges as mbna have not mentioned in there letter my original complaint thy seem more quick to respond you had no ppi. Matter closed. The situation around the card being mis-sold in first place well it was sold in a halfords branch. Thats another thread on here. Just gotta hope the charges get returned.

The only way they used different names was that some were called Card Protection Cover, some were called Card Services Cover, some were called Personal Protection Cover, etc. It will be some variation of Protection or Cover.
It won't be hidden in anything, it will be there as a separate charge every time there is an outstanding balance if you're paying it.

  • Hi
I've checked my online statements today and it doesn't say anything regarding PPI payments or insurances however I was on a 0% offer so unsure wether that makes a difference or not other problem is I can only look back over 1 year of statements and I'd interested to see older statements when I wasn't on deal to see if anything on them.
Again any advise you could offer would be appreciated.
    Thanks

PPI would appear as a transaction. So, if its not on your statements and you have been borrowing money (i.e. not paying it off each month in full) then you dont have PPI.

They won't be adding it then taking it off then adding it and taking it off. If it's there, you are paying it, if it isn't, you aren't.
