CCS - cold calling scam

I had a call from this lot who stated that I had an unclaimed compensation from an accident I had been involved in.
When I asked how they new about the accident they stated they worked with all the major insurance companies.
They then said they needed toa sk me some questions to complete a form they had.
I told them to send the form to my insurance company.
They said that the insurance company would not give them the information, due to privacy law.
I told them to send the form to me by post and I would fill it in, they had my address. (where they got my name address and tel No from I would love to know).
He then said he could not send the form as it was on their computer.
I said print it out then and send it. He said their system would not allow them to print it.
I then said why don't you write to my insurance company and ask them to contact me so that I can discuss with them as they have all the details about the accident.
He then said that he did not know who my insurance company was.
So I said but you told me you worked with all the major insurance companies?
He said yes they do but he didn't have the details.
I then told him to listen to what I am about to say I then told him that 1) I do not give out any information over the phone. 2) If there is compensation owing to me from an accident that nobody was injured in and has been completely resolved, the matter will need to be dealt with through my insurance company and he will have to contact them.
I then hung up.
It was an interesting experience as a lot of what he said was almost plausible and I can see that some people especially the elderly would be suckered in by this.
My one regret and he wouldn't tell me was where he got my information from? It can only have been sold to him by my insurance company or someone involved in the claims process.
As my accident involved an Italian Lorry there are a myriad of people in the chain, so no chance of getting my hands on them.

I have just received a call from a witheld number to my TPS registered telephone number from someone saying they were from the CCS Legal Department. She launched straight into telling me it was about me not getting my second payment from my recent motor accident. As others have described, this is all nonsense and completely made up. They do this in the hope that they chance across someone who actually had an accident and believes them.
Best thing to do with these type of calls is hang up straight away or put them on mute and walk away until they get fed up talking to themselves!0 -
You can always make a complaint that they are pestering you and if they carry on take it to the Legal Ombudsman.0

Yup, just got a call to my mobile from CCS supposedly referring to a road accident I've had in the past 3 years! News to me! Probably should have kept her on the phone to try to find out how she got my name & number but I've had espresso this morning & not in the mood to suffer fools lightly! I don't give out my mobile number much. Of course the number was a 'private number' so I can't check it/block it. Hopefully they won't ring again.#96 of the Norn Iron Club

I just had a call from this "company" asking for me by my full name. Said it was with regards to a road traffic accident I had within the last 36 (maybe she said 3-6) months "minor, not your fault" and I said I didn't know what she was talking about. She said maybe it was someone else in the houshols or a member of my family. I said it couldn't be. She said she must have the wrong details. I said well you had my name and number so where did you get them from... She hung up!0

I just got a call saying that they had been informed I was in a minor road traffic incident in the last 36 months and that they had been asked to follow up with me.
I asked them to be more specific - WHEN within the last 36 months I had had an accident. They sad that for data protection reasons they are only told that the incident occurred within 36 months.
I ask WHO had passed on the information. The guy said he didn't know - he is just passed the information by CCS but usually its an insurer.
I asked who CCS were and what was their website address. He hung up.0 -
CCS appears to be Complete Claims Solutions Limited which surrendered its authorisation in 2010 - and was subsequently dissolved. This is clearly a scam.
Calls of this nature should be reported to ActionFraud.0 -
And there was I thinking it stood for Cold Call Scam..0

Or Cold Calling Scum
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Just had a call from these jokers on my work phone about an incident that occurred with my car. They had my registration number/make/model and home address but in the 8 years that either myself or my parents have owned the vehicle it's never been involved in any incidents or accidents.
Made the office laugh when I said "Nice try" and hung upSPCNo.18 #20 (17 £562.86 16 £678; 15 £1120.92; 14 £416.53; 13 £191.52; 12 £260.48; 11 £480.95; 10 £682.31; 9 £442.64)
