I'd like to understand how an address I am hoping to move to may affect my credit history......... The address was rented out to people I know have likely bad credit but don't want that to affect my credit. Is there anything I can do? I havn't moved in yet

It won't affect you at all, you don't need to do anything. Addresses are not blacklisted and anything a previous occupier may or may not have done will not affect any future residents credit history.

Just ensure anything received is returned to sender as Not Known.. If its just binned then they have no way of knowing people have moved on..
The Mailing Preference Scheme also allows you to register information of previous occupier at address so it can avoid other mailshots turning up too..
But generally as long as you have no financial association with a previous occupant then there is nothing to worry about.0 -
