Block Paving Quote!!!

Just had a quote by a Marshalls approved Block Paving Installer for a 90m2 front driveway, North London. Awaiting further qoutes but was wondering if this sounds fair for the following:

Excavate Front Driveway to approx 350mm below the DPC of house and remove all waste away.
Put drainage channel around the house connected to exiting gully.
Put in a concrete footing and build a 9inch thick brickwall 5 courses with a brick on edge to finish.
Put in a concrete footing and build a small brickwall approx 3 brick courses with a brick on edge to finish
To replace the 2 existing manhole covers with new recess covers filled with paving to match
Put in a MOT TYPE ONE subbase thoroughly compacted with a vibrating plate.
Put in a 40-50mm laying course of compacted sharp sand.
Blockpave an area 90SQM using Marshalls Drivesett Argent in a 3 Size random layout.
Sweep Kiln Dried Sand into the joints and compact again.
Make good any pointing and clean site to finish.

£7200 with optional 10 year parts and 5 year labour gaurantee

I have perused Pavingexpert site and it says average £50 to £60 SQM but obviously doesnt take into effect brickwall construction which makes me think this quote is expensive.

Any help will be greatly appeciated.

Regards

If your talking about Marshalls block paving and a marshalls approved installer then you are talking the dogs doodahs, its like a dulux approved decorator, they charge more cause they are approved.
However, I got my drive done about 4 years ago from a guy that came highly recommended and I saw his work previously, and I had to wait months for him, and my drive is something like 97 sq mts, and we paid something like £40-45 per sq mtr, and he did a cracking job, the detail his men put in, and they never stopped, and they werent polish either lol.

So taking it from what we paid, and being 'marshall' and all that, I think its a decent price.

sounds a little on the high side without gaurantees, but depends on how much groundwork they need to do first.
but you will pay a big premium for an approved installer.
get a few quotes and see if you can get any reccomendations off people who have had it done by other local firms.

Have you checked out their "approval" ? Might just be your usual bunch of P1keys, front man wearing the hi vis waistcoat over the shabby ill fitting suit - most block pavers seem to be. I love it when you see the grass coming through after a couple of years

It's the brickwork that puts the quote up. I had a quote for a driveway and garden landscaping with a small brick boundary wall round. It was £3.5K cheaper without the wall, so we went without one!
Here I go again on my own....

Given the quotation I have just had from Anglian Driveways for 75 sq meters, the above quote looks positivly cheap. Can you please forward the company name?
For info, Anglian came in at £8500 (after starting at £13k:eek: ) for 75m2 of standard flat drive!!!!

Where on the marshalls site do you find the approved installers list?

Anglian give TERRIBLE Quotes and hounded me for ages (I eventually had to call up their head office and talk them through the data protection act to remove me from their database of people to bother...)

They wanted £6000 for a drive 25m2 for me!

Marshalls register (how to find it...)

    Go here http://www.marshalls.co.uk/transform/

Click on "how we can help" (top right)

Click on "find me an installer" (middle top)

    Bingo

As a reply to golfnutt - do try out a couple of installers in your area. I tried 5 from the marshalls or bretts approved lists (brett's list is easier to find and is HERE and 3 came in at over £3K, 2 at around £2K so not everyone is charging that premium.

I got my drive (now a 100% success) for about £500 more than if I'd bought it from a guy in a shiney suit with leaflets for 3 different named companies in his boot....

Just had a moving quote for block paving in NW London, around about 100m2 it started at £8,600 for Cobbles, ended up at £4,900 cash for cheap alleged Marshall blocks.... No Thank you. This was via www.pavingquoter referal. So not impressed at all they also gave me ANGLIAN - DONOT USE DO NOT USE - absolute scum messed up my guttering, rude arrogant pigs NEVER USE ANGLIAN FOR ANYTHING!
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
