This may have been posted before but I did a search and I couldn't find it...

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/articles/2013/06/cars/last-issue-of-auto-trader-on-sale-today

Whilst we all now sit goggle eyed behind a laptop/PC/tablet/phone, it's still a sad day when the great Autotrader magazine is disappearing of our shelves. How many of us haven't at some point in our lives spent hours flicking through it?! I remember my first car was sourced directly from the private ads of those very pages. Looked a lot better in the thumbnail sized picture than in the flesh (metal!) but i bought it anyway. Such innocent times, now gone. We all expect at least 10 high res pictures these days and reams of text.

Farewell old Autotrader magazine! :T

Ahh, the good old days of being sure to grab it on the issue date cos anything worth buying would be sold if you hung around and there wouldn't be another one to look at till next week :)

A shame, but sadly inevitable :(

I'm glad, I hated it in some ways - it was around £4 and all as it contained was paid ads - should have been free!
And that my son, is how to waft a towel!

Shame but inevitable. Spent many an hour scouring the ads in the mag, but must admit haven't bought it for about 10 years - surprised it has taken them this long to bin it really.

I bought my moped when I was 16 from an advert in Auto Trader's sister publication - Bike Trader :D (which has also ended)

Do Auto Trader still send someone round to take the photograph? :rotfl:

I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

We stopped advertising in there over 6 years ago due to the cost. A 12x12cm advert was over £200 and was always full of spelling mistakes and errors.

Surprising really, as they we're so painfully slow in setting up online and when they did they treated it as a joke. I guess times have finally caught up and they've had to accept it......

Autotrader is still the best place for maximum exposure and sale of a decent car. While multiple, disinterested owners over the past few years had screwed up the paper publication, it is the strongest car sales brand in the UK. Final nail in the coffin for paper sales was the decline from something like 400,000 weekly sales to 27,000. Being online-only will just boost their profits.

Clearly got to the point where it cost more to produce than the sales make.

What will also go is the use of all the wee acronyms like FSH,E/W,C/L it was half the battle getting all the bits in the wee amount of text you were allowed.

Write as much as you want in the digital world.
