hi
i hope yous can give me some advice. i think my employer is not putting me through the books i started a year and a half ago and i was told i would be on the books and getting payslips etc. i have been asking for payslips ever since with no joy and in april i asked for my p60 and still recieved nothing. just excuse after excuse trying to put me off. i finally made an appointment with the tax office and the said they have no record of me with my employer.
then the other day i recieved whats looks to be a photocopy of a p60. the thing thats raises my suspicions is that my national insurance number is not on it either is my work payroll number?
say if i fall pregnant i wouldnt recieve maternity from my employer nor would i be able to claim government money because i mighten have been paying tax and national insurance. and i would have to live off my partners wages which wouldnt cover the morgage and all the bills etc
what im i best to do? will i get landed with a big tax bill?
will i have to pay it or is it my employers responsibility because they were supposed to be putting me the books?
i am afraid now if my employer finds out i went the hmrc they might sack me.
what can i do??????????

Sorry just questions:
And what did the tax office suggest to you they would do about the situation?
How do they pay you? Cash? Cheque? Bank transfer?
How many hours do you work each week and what is your rate of pay?
Do you get precisely the same amount each time you are paid?
When you started with this employer did you provide a P45 from a previous job or complete a P46?0 -
Now that HMRC are aware of what they are doing I think the company's days may be numbered anyway. If I were you I'd be putting all my efforts into finding another job with a legitimate employer.0

I do not think you would be chased by HMRC for unpaid tax.
You would appear to have been working under a contract of employment rather than self-employed and therefore the payments you have received from your employer should be deemed as having been paid to you after deduction of tax and NI. It should be for them to pay that to HMRC.
Working 40 hours a week, even at minimum wage, you would still have been due to have paid NI to enable you to receive benefits.
Given the absence of payslips, are you able to prove you were working for them for as long as you say (ie the duration of your employment and the likely number of hours)? For instance, were you using business email?
As well as paying you the same each week you worked, did they also pay you for holidays?0 -
they pay me holiday money. i dont use a work email. but i have courses through work0
