I had to get one for opening my 1st Direct account - easy as pie, give HRMC a bell (bear with the endless menus) on 0845 300 0627. Mine dropped through the letterbox within 3 days.Nest Egg Savings Target: £7300/£10,000

What they are really after is any official document from HMRC to your home address. So if the HMRC know who you are and where you live then that is good enough for them.MFiT-T3 #149: {Q4/14} (£46,447)-->(£0) ~ +£46,447=100%

Thanks Gizmo, I'm completely aware of the necessity of ID checking in this type of process and am obviously not disputing the request for it, but am panicking slightly at the unfortunate series of events that have led to my partners passport being out for renewal at the same time as the application. There's a small chance it will come through in time for us to send it out with all the other documents, but it's highly unlikely it will.
Yes, we should have thought about this before now but in all honesty I do not remember being asked for photo ID at any stage of applying for my last mortgage so had no reason to believe it would happen this time. In any case, despite what I've been told here I am looking at the total list of requirements sent to me by NatWest today and there is absolutely no mention of a passport! So fingers crossed they won't need one. I have also found my own notice of coding so all we need to do is locate one for my partner - no point worrying further really, HMRC are generally quite helpful once you actually get through to them so fingers crossed.0 -

Thanks so much debtfreeby30:S, that's really reassuring! I had to request docs from HMRC during my last mortgage ap and remember them being super helpful to the point of obsessive about getting them to me on time, so was hoping it would be the case with this one.
It's now only a coding notice for my partner I need as mine has been found - he's the only awkward one in this case!
