Lender wants a 'notice of coding'

Hi everyone
I need to provide a 'notice of coding' to the lender I'm applying to for a re-mortgage (NatWest), and am not sure I have it. They've asked for it as a proof of ID.
I spoke to our head of finance at work who said that a P60 would probably be sufficient, as it shows (some of) the same information. Is this usually the case? I have a P60 so could send that if so. Otherwise, is this an easy or a difficult thing to get hold of via HMRC?
Probably can't get hold of NatWest this evening and am a bit stressed, so grateful of any input. Otherwise I will probably spend the evening turning the house upside down to find this letter (which I probably did receive in March but has mislaid)
thanks all.

I assume you don't have a passport or driving licence?
Notice of Coding is almost the last resort for ID. If you don't have it call the tax office and request it asap.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Actually, in this case no, we do not have a passport or driving licence for at least one applicant. However, they did not request one at any point - just a notice of coding or various other HMRC docs. Is a P60 no good then?

Have they not asked for a P60 anyway for income proof?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. It's Natwest - they have asked for payslips but not specifically a P60.
Quite a few other docs are valid for ID apparently, but none are relevant to us (child benefit notification or tax credit).0 -
Acceptable ID for Natwest:
• A certified copy of current valid passport OR
• HM Revenue and Customs Tax Notifications and
correspondence, less than 6 months old or dated within
the current financial year OR
• A certified copy of current full driving licence.
P60 is not acceptable.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Well they didn't mention anything about passports to us on the email today I was given about needed documents. I just hope we can get the tax notification sorted, I am a real worrier.0

What about going to a solicitor to get an ID verification? We did this once when transferring a lease0

Verified with what?
Natwest would have checked for electronic ID prior to asking for something from you.
What else could a solicitor do?
You need to satisfy the lender requirements as it is their money and their choice as to who to lend to or not.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Yes, well I'll obviously be delighted to do that by whatever means I can...0

Then you will need to request the Notice of Coding from HMRC asap.
Best to do this then try to find an alternative solution with the lender.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
