Thanks for the feedback. I live in the Ruislip area which is zone 5 so £199. Yes the rent is high but when we moved in a year ago. I spent months looking in different areas to suit our needs and budget.
I know this area very well. It's expensive.
If you are really serious about saving you will need to compromise and move somewhere cheaper. It won't be as nice as Ruislip. Something like Yeading or Hayes? Less salubrious for sure but a similar distance from C London and rents are bound to be cheaper. You would have to cut back your lifestyle and save like mad to afford the place you want in a few years.....

All good ideas. One problem. I need the Met line otherwise I would be going totally in the wrong direction in London and then double back on myself. I'm on Eastcote/Ruislip boarder and use Eastcote Met line tube station. Eastcote is Zone 5 and Ruislip is Zone 6. Yes there are other places in the Ruislip area but it throws up the issue of location and distance to station and routes into London.
Our life style is cut right back and we try to lower our outgoings each month so we are fairly happy with things.
Does anyone know of bank saving accounts that are for saving for a deposit compared to the usual savings accounts, ISAand esavers.0 -
Wembley?
There are a few accounts specifically for what you want - the proviso is you take their mortgage so do some research first of course. For example
