Foreign Transaction Fees on Refunds?

I recently stayed in Las Vegas. I paid for the hotel through Ebookers and paid the full amount at the time of booking. The hotel asked for a swipe of my card when I arrived, which is fairly standard. I have just received my credit card bill and it turns out the hotel have also charged me the full amount for the stay, even though I had already paid.

I will be emailing them to ask for a refund. But the other thing is that I was charged a foreign transaction fee of £9.69 by my credit card company, Tesco. I dont remember doing it, but stupidly I must have handed over the Tesco card instead of my Santander Zero card (long flight, arrived at hotel very tired at 5am UK time, etc). Anyway, it is still their mistake though as I had already paid for the hotel.

I am going to request that they refund me, and cover the foreign transaction fee.

My question is…….. when they refund me, does anyone know if will I be charged a second foreign transaction fee? If so, I will need to ask them to cover two foreign transaction fees.

Your also likely to see a difference for any change in the exchange rates over the time between the original transaction and the refund..

Yes. The credit will attract its own foreign transaction fee.

Well, the US dollar is currently up against the pound, so maybe you'll even make a profit. You can also do a chargeback

Speak to the card provider to refund the fee.

Also DO NOT ASK FOR A REFUND.

You need to ask for a REVERSAL.

That means you get the same amount back that was taken.

I guess you gave a different card to the one the payment was taken on hence the payments.

Not sure what c/b zerog is looking at here.

Paid via other means. Not going to work as two different retailers.
Unrecognised. Will come back with your details.
