Being offered vouchers as compensation - anyone know the legal situation?

I've been in dispute with a holiday company for 6 weeks now about a charge for a taxi transfer that I paid upfront that didn't turn up. After much too'ing and fro'ing (I won't bother you with the whole story) it transpires that the company sent me the wrong paperwork and my taxi transfer may have been there but I would never have been able to find it. The last letter I received said although 'nothing could be proved' the company were prepared to 'offer vouchers in exchange'. Now this transfer was over £70 and I want my money back and not vouchers. I've refused the vouchers but wonder how I stand legally on this?

  • Just realised I didn't update this but thought I should post a solution, should this happen to anyone else.

In short, I just got heavy with the company and wrote and told them their offer was unacceptable and if they wanted to argue the toss then it would be through ABTA. I then gave them 7 days to reply and I got a cheque in full recompense of my outlay within 5 days.
