How many court claims have the submitted ? out of what percentage of tickets unpaid ?
How many have they won ?
Just trying to gauge percentages .
Large numbers of claims ? hundreds of thousands, tens of thousands, thousands, hundreds, a dozen or less ?

Parking Eye are currently sending out hundreds of court claims every month. Just look at Pepipoo, new ones are landing there daily. It remains to be seen how many PE actually take to a hearing, but nonetheless every one of them has to have a defence filed or risk a default judgement. Who wants that hassle if they can kill it off at POPLA, or earlier?

That's irrelevant and just throwing things in the pot to denigrate the advice given by most respected people on here who recommend POPLA in most cases.

The fact is that most people don't relish the possibility of court or having things hanging over their head. That's why many pay up quickly and others pay up when the court papers arrive.

At least with POPLA, they have no fears of CCJs (or bailiffs) - wrongly held beliefs, of course.

Others who previously recommended IGNORE have evaluated the current position and changed their opinion. You are, of course, free to believe you are right, but remember that most people who receive these invoices just want them to go away.

Have a look here at ParkingEye's website.

    http://www.parkingeye.co.uk/ParkingChargeFAQ

It may be bluster in terms of absolute numbers, but there is no doubt that they've upped the stakes and more than ever are most certainly issuing Letters Before Action (look at the Aldi FB thread on here and the Aldi FB page as well) and Court Papers as can be witnessed by the large number of threads asking for help with defences on Pepipoo.

Unless you have other more up to date information?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I am just trying to evaluate the percentage chance of a parking eye claim.
I know the payment rate, I know the popla rate.
I know the rough estimate of issued fake tickets by Parking eye.

Why anybody would think this information not relevant I have no idea and if working out what percentage chance you have of been taken to court by parking eye makes me a double agent, then give me a badge and will wear it.

Parking charges are a numbers game.
The last bit of information I need if anyone has it is what percentage have been won by the Plaintiff, what percentage were default claims and what percentage of lost cases were defended.
So if this is your FOI feed, then requesting that info would be very useful.

I/ we can then work out what chance you have of losing a defended case .
An increase of a dozen a day MCOL may not increase the chances very much from what they are now.
If they lose the cases brought by parking eye then we may have a problem.

But jerking knees wont help anyone.
    Be happy...;)

Statistically, most wildebeest when crossing a river don't get eaten by crocodiles. It don't help if you are the one that does get caught though.

Now if there was a big bridge, and they used it, the numbers caught would drop, particularly as there are now more crocodiles or at least those crocs are hungrier now that their other source of food, zebra (or in our case, clamping) has dried up.

So, think of POPLA as that helpful bridge.

(I have definitely been watching too many Nat Geo programmes)

What utter, complacent cobblers. Most people have a life and do not want to be farting around defending court claims.

Like G.D. said, knowing you are a statistical outlier is not much comfort when you are the one staring at a claim form that needs a defence submitting.

Just look at Pepipoo. The dozens of people posting there for help defending claims are not exactly jumping with joy at the prospect of the battle ahead, most of them just want the problem to go away and probably wish they'd nipped it in the bud by any means available.

If anyone is not prepared to fight in court, then pay up what is demanded if they lose at POPLA.
This is always the risk, it was before popla and flurries of sabre rattling MCOL by parking firms are nothing new.
But recently the forum has begone jumping up and down scaring the living daylights out of people, exactly what these scammers want.
Over emphasizing the chances of court is the best form of advertising they want.
    Be happy...;)
