Holiday Pre-paid cards

I'm going to the USA at the end of august and I would like to know when is the best time to buy my pre-paid dollar cards, or do you think the pound will rise enough soon to wait for a better rate? or should I plan on getting them now?

  • The rate is fluctuating quite a lot at the moment (I'm checking every day as I have been purchasing stuff in dollars ready for our trip in Sep) so it is hard to say when the best time is.

At the moment, a rate of 1.55 seems to be the best I have achieved on my purchases.

As for the pre-paid cards, I cannot help as I use my credit card (I pay it off each day/every couple of days whilst away) because I don't trust pre-paid cards. I don't want to put £3000 on a card to then find the company has gone bust and I'm left with having no choice but to leave a balance on my credit card. But that's just me.

If we knew the answer to that question, we'd be sitting in large mansions selling crystal balls ;)

It's a better way of saying don't know than mine. I didn't know, so I didn't answer. If everyone had done that you'd have thought we were all a bunch of miserable monkeys.
