    Thanks for posting :T

You've put (Scotland) at the end of the title, is that just to point out that Turnberry is in Scotland? I think a lot of people may assume you mean entries are limited to those living in Scotland (which I don't think is the case here) and pass by the thread. Mind you, that means all the more chance for you and me ;)

I put Scotland in the title to indicate where Turnberry was. I was [STRIKE]asked [/STRIKE]told in no uncertain terms via a PM that not making the location of the prize clear was completely unacceptable ( I believe the words used were misleading and deceitful) and that if I was to persist in posting competitions then they should be accurate and clear. If the competition is restricted to Scottish residents only I will specifically state this to avoid further criticism.

Of course I learnt some time ago on MSE that there is absolutely no pleasing everyone. :)

How appalling - there is no excuse for that. I hope you didn't think I was being critical :o, I just think that the title formats we use are sometimes a little variable and didn't want anyone to miss out on the great comp you posted.

I do think it's useful to mention where venues are but many many posters don't and I wouldn't criticise that (although I have sometimes bumped to add info like that). I've always felt it's the responsibility of the person entering to ensure they are eligible, and that the prize is of interest to them - but it's really nice if the poster makes working that out easier (as you have done!)

I think there are more people who think we should specify "Scotland" as a location but wouldn't bother with London or Midlands... but then there are more people in those areas so I suppose the weight of numbers means there will be more people who consider Scottish venues to be outwith their range than, say, London. Ok I'm just waffling now :o

Hope you don't let a nasty response put you off, I do notice that the most critical are generally the people who don't post any comps themselves or every say anything positive, and as far as I'm concerned they can, um, well you can probably work it out ;) :rotfl:

No I wasn't in the least offended by your post and you are absolutely right, the person who sent me the snotty PM wasn't someone I've ever seen contribute to the competitions forum. In fact I'm not sure I've ever seen them thank anyone either!

Takes all sorts as they say!
