I'm sure it used to be the case, but does not hanging up the phone line still keep the call open?
I'm thinking in particular of junk calls - does it inconvenience them if you don't put down the phone?

Not sure, but if yo want to inconvenience them, just say, 'just a moment' put the phone to one side and go and have a cuppa.
That really pees them off.

With a landline, the person making the call can keep the line open by not hanging up. So it won't work for junk calls (unless you are making them).0
