Legal Cover in Motor Insurance - Is there an alternative?

I normally tick the box whenever taking out motor insurance. But it all adds up when you think £20-£25 on both mine and my wifes insurance policies. Is there an alternative apart from not actually taking it out with the insurance company? Don't think you can get it as part of your house insurance but just wondering whether there are any specialist insurance companies that will do alternative policies..
