Ah my second one is three and has turned into the child from hell, as a parent of a 19 year old I have discovered they continue getting worse, not better!

My oldest is 22 and just seems to be heading out the other side.. he has improved somewhat from being about 18 but I'd rather chew off my own limbs than have him back as a 3 y/o.

I will say though.. he was so horrific he has made the others feel like a breeze!! Nothing they have done thus far has compared with him.

Yeah I've heard of the terrible twos, trying threes, fraught fours and so on... ;)

People talk about the terrible 2's but since my son has turned 3 he is a nightmare! Picky eater, tantrums bordering meltdown - I really don't want to smack him but I am tempted! He is a lovely little boy but at the moment everything is his- even the onions in our bowl,he has a tantrum at the drop of a hat. All I seem to be is shouty Mummy!

    This makes me really sad.

A tactic I use atm with the horrendous tantruming is to whisper when he's yelling his head off, because eventually he wants to hear what I'm saying and he can't hear if he's yelling over the top of me :D

My DS was an absolute misery at that age, unreasonable wasn't the word! He would try and tell me black was white and would moan, grizzle and pout through the day. He's 6 now and he still doesn't like the word 'no' but he's getting better at dealing with it.

It doesn't last. You have just described my 17 year old. Please, please give me back a three year old 'cos it only gets worse :rotfl:

  • Why do I make you sad NotaNewUser? I said I was tempted to smack him- not actually smack. And, if I were to it would be a tap on the legs not thrashing him ! Anyway, to smack or not to smack is a whole other discussion.

Pick your battles, some things are not worth the hassle..

That's my mother's constant advice - pick your battles - but she also usually adds that if you've picked one, you've got to win it!
