When did I start trading?!

Hi
I recently bought a company via an Internet site & it is now registered with Companies House. It was a hasty purchase but someone else had just bought the .co.uk domain name associated with it (I have the .org name) and I was concerned that the company name could soon be taken.
So my question is - does the date on which my company was registered count as the day on which I started trading?
Thanks for any advice.

Not necessarily. A company can be classed as dormant if it is not trading.
When you start trading can be defined in various ways. Depending on your circumstances, if you are trading in goods, then when you start to buy stock to sell on with a view to a profit then you are starting to trade. If you are selling a service, when you first start to charge with a view to making a profit, then I would think that is when you start to trade.
It is hard to give a definitive view without all the facts. Don't forget to register with HMRC within three months of when you do eventually start to trade.Today is the first day of the rest of your life0
