    Hi Sammy :)

You can take the vehicle for servicing elsewhere - as long as they use approved citroen parts then the warranty will remain valid. Although, with an 04 plate, do you still have a warranty left on the vehicle? If not you could do a service elsewhere... Kwik Fit seem to have started doing services.

If you/your OH are familiar with the vehicle under-bonnet you could replace the spark plugs and engine air filter yourself - they're fairly easy and if you buy the parts at a local motor factor they'll probably be happy to help. The oil and oil filter change could be done at Kwik Fit for around £25.

To answer the question though, £296 does seem steep, I presume it's for a major service. Remember that car dealerships these days are making less of a profit on new cars so have to recoup through the inflated servicing costs, but you are free to take your business elsewhere! :D

i never paid more than £120 for servicing my previous picasso at main dealer and that was just 2 years ago. Now i would expect no more than around £150. Is your price including some extra work and parts?

i still have a years warranty with the car as motability gave us an extra year so i thought i had to take it to the place we bought it from is this still the case?
i really dont want to spend £296 to get it serviced my oh says he is going to ring them up to see what they are going to do for all that money hopefully he will ring tomorrow
    any other advice is appreciated
i dont want to loose the warranty on it
    cheers sammy

I know renault are notorious for expensive servicing. I wonder if it's a french car thing?!

An oil change isn't usually too difficult to do yourself but when you can get it done for about £25 it's probably easier just to pay them to do it, although I am going to attempt changing the oil and filter on my car myself :)

We had a picasso and some of the services involve extra work. From memory the 3 year one is most expensive. First service was about £150. Brake fluid change and other filters being changed may contribute. Have a look in the service book - it will tell you what work needs to be completed at 3 years

I heard Audi advertising servicing the other day at "Just £199" so that doesn't seem too far out from Citroen

Just be glad its not a Maclaren F1 I think the servicing figure for one of those is around £6k

french cars have always been expensive to service, use to have a megane until they started charging £260 for a major service and that was 4 years ago

If the service includes the timing belt then it may be right.
    I have a cunning plan!

The 3rd service is usually the most expensive. So that price you have been quoted doesn't sound all that unreasonable compared other cars.

    stick to good old fords

servicing costs for my new focus is

    year 1 £85
    year 2 £120
    year 3 £85
    Year 4 £120
    Year 5 £160
    Year 6 £85

I'll only be keeping it 3/4 years anyway so I'll miss the £160 service :D
