Hi all, i am new to this and would be grateful for help in my questions below
I have just told my bf (of 9yrs) how much i am in debt he went mental  at first but is worried for me we have a 9 month old baby together.
We rent our property privately and all rent council tax & utilitys payments are up to date so it is just my unsecured debts to deal with.
I have decided to go bankrupt as there is no way i will ever be able to pay this back on £60 a week that i get.
1) I will be going to Guildford county court to do it has anyone done it there and what was there experience like what happens?
2) does the OR come to your house and take your things that you mention are yours?
3) will they take my partners belongings like the tv etc? as this is causing arguments as he reckons his things will be taken
4) my partner put his car in my name as my insurance company would not insure me unless i was the registered keeper will they take this?
Many thanks for your help i very sick feeling girl x

Hi kerry,
1) No experience of Guildford Court, but the consensus on this forum is that the worst part of the court experience is is just the thought of it. Judges and Court staff are almost always polite and helpful.
2) The O.R would only come to your house if he suspected you were trying to hide valuable works of art or something like that. I can't remember anybody sying the O.R had gone to their home; they do take a lot on trust.
3) Tell your partner to chill  they won't be interetsed in anything that belongs to somebody else.
4) Registered keeper and vehicle owner are two different things. If he can prove that he bought the car then there'll be no problems.
If I was you, I'd pour myself a nice cool drink, sit in the sun and drive those "sicky" thoughts away.

Hi Kerry,
You only need to complete the forms and take your fees with you £335 + £150 Court Fees; if you're on benefits the Court Fees will be waived. There's loads of threads on here about completing the forms so you shouldn't have any problems there.
You declare any assets you have on the Forms and the O.R works from them.

Painfully so Bart,
Good news is I finish at 4:30pm, quick trip to the tip with a van load of junk, meet the O.H in town, pick up fish & chips and a bottle of wine, have a couple of glasses of the "amber nectar" with me old Pops and then I can take my aching head to bed. :j :j0 -
Hi,
I used Guildford Court in February when i filed for BR.
It operates a turn up and file system as apposed to some where you need to book a date.
On the day i arrived at 9am and was the only person, so clerk checked all paperwork, stamped it and took the money.
Had to wait until 10am when the judge sits, got called in at 10am and was announced BR at 10:03am.
back to the clerk who typed up the order and i was away home by 10:30 all done.
OR did not contact me until 3 weeks later and this was by letter stating that they would be doing a telephone interview in just over a weeks time.
All very painless at Guildford, as previously posted the worst part is the lead up to the day itself.
All the best and hope it all goes well.

Hi Kerry
The Judge will ask you if you've taken financial advice on the implications of bankruptcy and if you contact one of the Debt Charities as Bat suggests then the Judge will be satisfied that you're doing the right thing. Technically you can declare bankruptcy if your debts are over £750.
