Amex and refund dispute

in Credit cards
I returned a bike to an independent shop on 25th May as not fit for purpose. (bought earlier same day and pedal fell off !). Got refund of £179 onto Amex card. Still waiting for refund (29 June). Contacted Amex who will not investigate with shop saying I must do it - does anyone know if this is correct ? I have never had a dispute regarding a credit card and feel unsure as to process. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you get a refund receipt? Showing that to Amex should be enough evidence.0 -
Hi reclusive46, thanks for your reply. Yes I have got the receipt and have offered it to Amex. I will try again with them. Thanks again for your help.0

Does the receipt show some or all of your account number - it might have been credited to somebody else's account?
Or the shop might not have processed the credit at all?
So you paid for a bike but have not got a bike (but you do have a receipt for its return) - try asking them to process a chargeback for goods not received.0
