What to do with wedding dress?

I got married in March and I haven't decided what to do with my wedding dress. Lots of people have said keep it & put it in the loft/that they wouldn't dream of getting rid of it etc etc. But I think I would feel a bit sad stuffing it in a loft for it not to see the light of day for years! I don't have room for it anywhere else though.
If I sold it I would probably get a few hundred for it, and it could make someone else's wedding day special... but I might regret selling it later.
What have other people done with theirs/have you given any thought to what you would do with it?

I've got mine stuffed into my suitcase on top of the wardrobe :rotfl:
I didn't want to sell, still feel bad that I sold my veil
No plans at all for it tbh. Hmm xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
Mine is still in the boot of the car, in a dress bag I hasten to add! I only got married on Monday and that's why it's still there as its going to my parents house, as they've got massive built in wardrobes, and I literally have no room in mine for it.
I was planning to sell it again on eBay (that's where I got it from), but I've actually become quite attached to it! I want to wear it again already! :rotfl:0 -
I got married on 8 june. I lobbed the bottom off mine within about 3 days, am currently sewing red beads along the neckline, and hemming it just above the knee and dewing red flowers up the side. I've bought a sewing machine as NO sewing skills whatsoever - just fancied a go.....Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

I'm selling mine. It's big, I'm never going to wear it again and it was the only 'frivolous' expense for our wedding so cost a lot and I'd like to recoup some of that.
It just takes up space. I have the photographs of me wearing it, so the memory is there. I'm keeping the shoes and jewellery, so it's not like I don't have physical reminders of what I wore on the day. At least the things I'm keeping can be enjoyed again.0 -

Brave lady! If you make that bag you were thinking of making with the cut off bit, please show us, I'd love to see it, infact I'd love to see the finished dress too!0 -
I had planned to dye mine, but since been told it may not dye well so would like to sell it. Feel awkward though as my Mum is purchasing it for me and don't want her to think badly, but I live in one bed flat in London so don't exactly have the room for it, and would feel really sad for it being stuck in the wardrobe never to be worn again!
Although quite a few of my friends have got married recently so I may suggest a night where we wear our dresses again! I'm not married yet so after the wedding I will discuss the possibility of selling with my Mum.0 -
Mine is hanging in its bag round my mums house! I keep meaning to get it cleaned and boxed but to be honest it's not dirty, and the price of having this done is ridiculous in my eyes! I never intended on wearing it again but in my eyes it's the most beautiful dress in the world and I couldn't get rid of it. I've had many a little look at it when I've been round and I just love it, brings back amazing memories, even before the wedding day.Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0

There is absolutely no way on this earth, come hell or high water that I will EVER sell, throw out or discard my wedding dress in any way. Just the thought make me come out in a cold sweat :rotfl:
Mine was already pre loved and whilst I know I could sell it I could never bare to part with it. I felt like a million dollars on my wedding day and whenever I catch a glimpse of it I am reminded of the massive grin on my husbands face when he first looked at me. I am going to get it cleaned and boxed up and treasure it forever. I have mentioned wearing it again at some point and I actually love the sound of Jaxs alterations, I'd maybe do something like that one day
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

My friend made a christening gown for my children............
Only used by 1st child - I wanted the 'babe in arms' christening.
Poor 2nd child walked himself up the aisle and combined with 1st birthday party .........
So if I get married again - it's new frock time!;)0 -
My wife sold hers and the bridesmaids dresses0
