Payment made twice by mistake

Hi
I don't know if this is the right forum so apologies if I'm in the wrong place.
I've just purchased a camera from Groupon but it's gone through twice on my account. Is there anyway I can claim this back does anyone know? Having a bit of a panic as I won't have enough money for two of them!
Please help!
I'm with santander btw.

  • For two to go though you must have an overdraft then. If you can not get in touch with Groupon you could try the retailer under DSR

I had enough money in my account for them both to go through but I didn't want two, it just shows as two purchased. As its Saturday is there a way I can cancel this before Monday?
    what's DSR by the way?
  • anything you order on the internet you can return within 7 days no questions asked that is DSR or distance selling regulations. I had a look on the site you ordered from it dont mention anyway to cancel the order which I find pretty strange it however does mention your DSR rights which is good news as you can return one. The bad news is the site looks like one of those voucher sites and as there is 3 party's involved in the return they say it takes 10 days to process.

Did you buy it twice by mistake (i.e. authorise the payment twice?)
If so, contact the supplier and ask them to cancel the duplicate order.

If you didn't authorise it twice, then the supplier cannot charge you twice. Sometimes an amount is reserved against your card and the same amount then deducted. The reserved amount will not be collected, so don't worry. (The reservation will cancel after a few days)

    Hi Lizzye,

This sounds like a small technical error and we would like to investigate what went wrong. For us to look into your Groupon account please email sm.support@groupon.co.uk with all the details of which Groupon you purchased and how much you were charged. We will be able to investigate and resolve this with you. Please also put MSE in the subject box of the email that you send us. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you, Groupon UK.

    Hi
Thanks for the advice. I contacted the email address as above and the money is now back in my account. Phew. Not sure what happened there but at least it's sorted.
