Debt and then the house...before I am 40!

Options
Hi

I have decided to do a diary to concentrate my spending. I am savvy on my bills etc so don't need advice on that. My issue is silly spending more than anything so looking to make myself more accountable

My Debts are currently:

£1980 0% CC, 1% a month
£892 Loan 21%, £26 a month minimum
£1611 Tax 0%...Must be paid by Feb 14
Bank of M&D £5625

Once I have paid the above of I will hit the mortgages and go in that direction.

I currently pay 500 a month of my debts. I allow myself £600 a month on a 4 week month and £700 on a 5 week month to live on.

This only has to pay for Food, Fuel and extras, presents, eye tests etc...basically non fixed costs.

I appreciate this is quite alot for one person but in the past I have restricted myself before and then messed up so I like to live fairly well whilst paying the debts of.

Hopefully if I keep control of myself I can cut some extra of the living money.

I did wonder why you'd announced your p*rn costs to everyone ;) lol
  • Just at work but brought food from home so on target for NSD number 2. Got a real bad habit of checking my internet banking several times a day, even on a sunday when nothing changes!!!

Was hoping for a NSD number 3 but knew I had to goto Tescos Opticians and I was definately 100% not going to buy any glasses today and get them next month. Without doubt my resolves was strong.

I spent £179.99 on two pairs of glasses! At £90 a pair its not to bad and this does include the thin lenses which I need over the standard lenses due to my poor prescription.

So now the question I have is... currently spent out this of my £351 left for the month which leaves £171 or do I take it out of my aimed debt repayment of about £400 which I get on the 17th?

I also spent £4.96 at tescos on bin liners etc.

    Cheers

Its a NSD for me today which is good, 3 in the last 4 days.

However, I am having issues with British Gas. I pay £88 a month direct debit for electric (no gas) and I should owe them about £150 after the cold months at the beginning of the year.

However they have reversed my charges so now I am showing £320 in my favour. I have emailed them about this 3 weeks ago and you would think they would want to be accurate so if I owed them money they could do something about it.....but no! They don't care!!!

Their online site is atrocious and deeply inaccurate and I am fed up at how slow they are being.

I am very tempted to close my british gas account, move elsewhere, take my £320 out and pay it of my loan and wait for BG to come chasing...at least its 0% then compared to the 21% on my loan!

    Views?
  • Funnily enough me moaning at them kicked their !!!! into gear and its nearly sorted!

Now showing a balance of -£256 but they have missed a direct debit off so it should be -£160 which means in the last 3 months I have only used about 70-80 quid of electric which is good!

Not a NSD day today, had to pay back some money to work that I accidently spent on the company card! Whoops!

Also, need to purchase some salad stuff today.
