Troubles getting an account

Howdy people
I asked on these forums a while back about getting an account sorted because at the minute all I have is a cash card with Barclays and they wont give me a proper account and CitiBank said I didnt meet the critera either.
After being told to get my credit reports I now have both sat in front of me and I am a little confused with it all.
My equifax one says this....
o2 preston brook
Monthly Status S1010.100000 S meaning Settled or satisifed account tho
3G
Montly Status D.....3 meaning Default so obviously 3 months in arreas
but followed right below that is
Status S333321 so its been settled
The other bits on this are just applications for credit with barclays
My Experian one has nowt on it from what I can see! Just credit applications from Citibank and Barclays along with my car insurance stuff which are all UNRECORDED CHECKS
Obviously the defaults arent good but it wasnt for a huge amount of ££ and was dated back in mid 2004.
Whats my next move then? Thank you in advance :j

Defaults will be on there for 6 years.
It does not matter for how much they were for as most lenders these days use computerised software and a default is a default.
Are you in a position to repay and clear these defaults? if so get a certificate of satisfaction and your report should be amended within a month or so of you paying it off.
When your report is clear get a copy, take it to Barclays and see if they can upgrade the account.0 -
They are already paid according to my report the S at the end of status means Settled so that should be fine
How do I go about this "certificate of satisfaction"?
Thanks for taking the time to reply0 -
Depends what you want from a bank account but have you considered opening a Basic bank Account?
Several banks give 'proper' debit cards with these accounts and will upgrade you to a full account in time..

All I want to be able to do is have something other than a Cashcard, its a nuisance having to draw money from machine for everything!
I went to Natwest yesterday to open a basic account with a Solo card but it was past 4:30 so I aint going to know until monday how it goes
I cant open that PDF it says was unable to decrypt it0 -

You write to the company that you owed money to and ask them to confirm that you have paid everything off.0 -
