It has a full service history with Honda yes.

    Work to be done:

    Engine oil change.
    Replace engine oil filter.
    Replace air cleaner element.
    Inspect and adjust valve clearances.
    Replace fuel filter.
    Replace spark plugs.
    Inspect washer bottle level.
    Replace transmission fluid.
    Change oil.
    Inspect front and rear brakes.
    Replace brake fluid.
    Check and adjust parking brake.
Then visual checks of car components.

I had all this done + MoT + front brake pads replaced on my car for £250 today - highly rated independent
    Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

    Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,000

yes I do know that, but the civic in question is not a vtec or a mivec or a purpose built race engine is it?

If the car in question has been quoted for valve clearance adjustments then it doesn't matter whether its a full race typeR or a humble honda 50 motorbike really does it, its got adjustable valve clearances which means it doesn't have hydraulic lifters.

Never mind you carry on believing what you want.

all well and good saying this all we know it could be a daewoo matiz using cheap aftermarket parts :rotfl:

to the op you are being ripped off, without checking i would estimate if i was quoting at my workplace £250 tops, thats even if it takes low sap oil.

    main dealer = BIG CON!!!

    Ford Focus 1.6 Diesel (59)

The service OP suggested doesn't sound like a service worth of a £500 price tag. There is absolutely no need to be going to a Honda dealer garage if you can get the same or better quality work done independently for much cheaper.

My service etc. would have cost between £300 and £400 if I'd taken it to the Ford dealership in town because of needing the brake pads replacing and they charge a lot for brake fluid changes which was due - about 4x the price.

Don't forget Ford give you a years European breakdown cover when you have a service done. Combined with that engine I'd be going to Ford for a little while longer, a main dealer service history goes a long way towards good will when the turbo dies.
