survey result confusion

Options
Had a survey done then had to question a few bits most were provable or sorted,

However one came back high damp meter reading on downstairs wall's, believed to be from insufficeient ventilation where the house had cavity wall, and it may have blocked the breather bricks,

so we employed a damp company to check the house for quotes, they have come back saying there were no damp reading of any sort on any wall, and the house was damp free, they mentioned an extractor fan should be supplied to avoid condensation from an oven but that was it?

Should we just poroceed with this as gospel? its just odd one has one result and the other a damp company finds nothing at all?

The surveyors use damp meters to check for moisture on walls, these are notoriously unreliable and are calibrated for use on wood not on plaster.

A lot of damp contractors offer "free" surveys and may find a damp problem in a damp-free house, normally by using the same moisture meters as the surveyor. If you're really worried pay an independent damp surveyor to look at the house, otherwise count yourself lucky you got an honest damp company.

Yeah it was an independent company, we paid 75 just for the survey but they said, there may have been some confusion between condensation and damp, but there was no damp faults for the property, it add's up to being great news for us if its all right.
