How do I use my auto jump starter?

Hi Folks

I recently bought an auto jump starter from ebay, for my car. However, there are only minimal instructions with it, and I haven't got much of an idea of how to use it, how long to use it for, how to check if the car battery is fully/partly charged, and if the auto charger would need charging itself !

I would be most grateful if someone could give some advice?

Thanks in advance

    Hi Gaz237

I actually bought it from a catalogue - The Easy Life Group. It states that it is a Battery Jump Starter and model number is EL 1939 (although this number may refer to the catalogue number. Apart from that, I have no other information.

Apart from red goes to + and black to - Theres not much to know. Most have a light or meter to tell you if they are charged and you only need to use it on your car if the cars battery is flat.

It needs to be plugged into the cigarette lighter and used for emergencies - i.e. if you are away from home and the battery goes flat etc.

No need to keep it connected to the cigarette lighter all the time. In fact only when it needs charging is best.

As some cars have a permanent live to cigarette lighter sockets in the boot. So it would drain the cars battery if left.

But then the OP could use their jump pack to start the car

In this day and age of cars all have ecu,s and immobilisers .

Its best not to let the battery go flat in the first place. Tends to make warning lights switch themselves on and you have to pay to get them turned off, if you don't have the right equipment.

wow, have a look at the fuse on the lighter socket is it 15amp? so that's cable that is about 2-3mm thick a typical starter motor draws 250amps though a 10mm thick cable

Better have 999 on speed dial
