Hotpoint washer dryer problem

I have a hotpoint which is displaying the F-07 error. Looking online it appears to be connected the the heater part it some have replaced the display and fixed the problem. When you fit a. New pcb board does it need to be reprogrammed or just slots in and should work? I don't mind paying £20 to try to see if it works for a 2nd hand part but don't want to pay £100 for a new board then it turns out other bits need fixing
