Failed delivery

Does anyone know if I can claim compensation for waiting in all day for a washing machine only to find out that it has been signed for and fitted in someone else's home?
I was expecting a delivery from Currys and was given a window of 2.25-6.25 pm (from a text message received at 10.30 am the same day). I received a phone call from the driver at 12.30 pm telling me he would be with me within the hour. I called the company at 6.00 pm to find out where he was, only to be told that I had to wait until 6.25 pm as he was still within his given time slot. I called them back at 6.35 pm to find out where he was, only to be told that my washing machine had been installed and tested. When I said it hadn't, they kept saying it had. I was then put through to the depot at 6.50 pm and was told they were tracking down the driver and would call me back. I call the company again at 7.30 pm to complain that I hadn't received a call back from the delivery depot. They took down the complaint and was informed by the depot that they would call me back. I received a 2 sec call from depot to check about door bells and was told they would call me straight back. It is now 4.35 am the next day and still no call. What should I do?

Firstly, deal only with Curry's. This is who you have a contract with, and who are obliged to resolve your problem.
Secondly, read the stickies above on this forum which will lead you to this article: Failed delivery rights. This article explains all, and provides template letters too.My farts hospitalize small children0
