The staff are there 9-5 Monday to Friday where my sister lives too. I do all the bathing, showering, hair washing, hair drying, helping her dress, administering medication, take her grocery and cothing shopping. I also have her to stay at my home every other weekend (through choice not necessity) The staff are not paid to help with personal care and my sister is only allocated something like 2-3 hours per week one to one care from the staff. During this they help her do her laundry, iron and clean the kitchen in her flat. This is not enough hours to cover all the care she needs hence why I step in. We were at one time paying an external company to come in and help with her personal care each morning but it was very costly and frankly they were useless. I don't want to take money from her, she is "just" comfortable. I was just enquiring if there might be anything I could try and claim without affecting her standard of living and it seems there isn't. Thanks for your comments and advice.

    There is?

Put in a backdated carers allowance claim for the last 3 months ONLY with no forward or future claim.

You or your partner will get the full £33.30 backdated the 3 months and for another 8 weeks from today so about £500 in total.

In 5 months time do it again, sorted.

    The sister will lose nothing!
