Birds nest

I have two birds nest on house, in the eaves (? I think that's what it's called). One at the front and the other at the side of the house. Birds are currently using it because there has been a lot of droppings on the pavement.
Whilst I don't mind having these lovely little lodgers, the nest at the front of the house is causing a lot of mess on the pavement and windows and it is unsightly. I want to remove the front nest, but I'll happily keep the one at the side of the house since they are doing no harm.
What would be the best way to remove it? Should I wait until winter when they go away or just start dismantling it, carefully incase there are any eggs?
They were here last summer too and disappeared when it started getting colder. No idea what type of bird it is, don't see them that often but their nest is pretty small.
Thanks :j

Wait until they've gone and knock it off.
Does it look like it's made me dirt?
If so could be house martins and they'll be back next summer.0 -
Yeah, it's made of mud or something. I would happily relocate the nest to the side of the house, next door to the other one but not sure how to make it stick to the eaves like they've got it now.
Didn't know it would be illegal to remove the nest! :eek:We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Yeah, they are house martins. Just Googled them and their nest and it looks exactly like what I've got. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

It may indeed be illegal to remove the nest. You are best to tolerate them until the chicks have fledged, and then when it is no longer used, remove it, and make sure they cannot rebuild one next year. I am assuming it is legal to remove the nest.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

It is illegal to remove the nest during the breeding season (now.)
House martins in dire decline because 'homeowners are destroying their nests'0 -
Okay thanks!

I'll just leave it as is. Guess I'll just get the pressure washer out every other weekend to clean up the pavement.
It's funny how they keep returning to my house. My neighbours don't have any nests. It is fascinating how a tiny little bird can create a home for itself in the corner where it's protected from the elements. We’ve had to remove your signature.
