Wedding present question

I don't think the OP's trolling - she's a fairly regular poster. Perhaps she's thinking about it for a gift, perhaps someone in her circle is and she wanted some more opinions on it!I was actually asking because a friend bought some for a friend as a gift, and I didn't know how I would feel about it if it had been for me, and I can say, hand on heart I am neither troll or conducting market research. I am disabled, I struggle to clean my own house, there isn't any way I could clean someone elses!
I have to be honest, I feel slightly hurt that people think I am a troll, for one, I have been a member here for quite some time, and two, what a really weird subject to try and troll!

Thanks for having faith in me Valli!0

I'd just like to point out Jen that I don't think you are a troll, that thought had never entered my head, so I too was surprised to see people call you one.
I hope the responses you got have given you an idea wether or not to go ahead with it as a gift0 -
In fact, I think one of the great advantages of this forum (and others, I suspect, but I'm a one-forum girl) is that, when something happens that's outside your personal experience, you can come on here and ask and find out more about it, or what people think, or get a selection of views.
For instance, a few years back my friend was getting (re) married and wanted a postbox and asked me to make one.
I had never been to a wedding with a postbox, didn't know what they were (or were for) but, rather than have her explain it to me (in the midst of planning the wedding) I came on here and asked; was told what they were, how they were used and even told where they could be found (ebay IIRC) so I then knew what to do, and what was needed so I made it.
Just been to a baby naming. Again, a new social event forme so I was able to ask on here about them, and got some lovely advice/suggestions for appropriate gifts!
So you can ask complete strangers on the internet, like I do and no-one IRL need ever know that you're dealing with a whole new social situation!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Well if it was one of my guests posting this question here, I really wouldn't care if they were considered a troll or not, I'd be delighted0

If you don't know them well enough to know if it'd offend or not......get Argos vouchers instead !
I'd love ironing vouchers - however Argos only sells cheap tat! If you must go for vouchers, at least get John Lewis.I am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.0 -
If it was bought as a gift for a couple you knew well, would it still be offensive? for many people now they marry after they have had their children and are a busy working family. If someone bought you 2 months worth of ironing or cleaning as a gift, leaving you more leisure time as a family, is that not a thoughtful gift?
Yes, definitely! Very thoughtful and greatly appreciated by most, I would imagine xI am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.0 -
I know some people who would be mortified to receive such a gift. I however would be delighted. Those who know me well know how busy I am, so I would perceive it as thoughtful rather than an insult. :beer:0
