Council Tax for post- int'l student

A neighbour asked me for help on this and I didn't know the answer - can anyone help?...:
If an international student has approx 3-4 months between the end of their studies and the end of their visa, are they liable for council tax during that peiod? ie, at the point the person ceases to be a student, are they elibible a for short-term visitor exemption if they are presumed to have to leave at the end of that period and in any event won't be working?

check what the final date of the couse is according to the university - it may be that the final date they hand in work and the date that the course is over may vary (space for re-sits etc).:happyhear0

The student should have a Certificate of Attendance from their Uni. That will have the true 'end-date' of the course. After that date, the student WILL be liable for Council Tax until they leave the country. UNLESS they are still living in Halls of Residence which are totally exempt.0
