Possible to get £ lodged into Santander credit card back into Santander bank account?

Apologies in advance for the long post.

Yesterday I accidentally lodged money into my Santander Zero credit card (which had a zero balance) instead of lodging the money into my Santander Zero bank account. I realised my mistake before I left the counter and when I brought it to the cashiers attention she said that she would make a telephone call to get it transferred into my bank account. She went into the staff area and when she came back to the counter she said it would take 7 to 10 working days to appear back in my account and asked if that was alright to which I asked if that was the only way and when she said yes I said that would be fine. She then went into the back again and then she came out to the customer side of the counter and said she had been advised that she needed me to be beside her to confirm my details to the Santander representative on the telephone. She then made a telephone call again but on the telephone which is situated on the customer side and she spoke to a different representative who advised her the money would not show in my credit card account for 24 hours (although I could view it on my phone). The cashier then advied me to call them direct myself today as I had a few appointments (doctors etc). I asked if I would incur any fees if I withdrew the money at the atm and she said I would even though I had a credit balance. Today I telephoned Santander (in between appointments which are 25 miles away, 50 miles round trip from the branch) and the representative said it could not be sorted over the telephone but I woud need to go back into the branch again.

Is there any way to get this sorted without going into the branch or spending the money which is on the credit card?

I know that any credit on a credit card can be transferred back to a uk bank or building society did they advise you go into branch on the phone because you failed security?

Otherwise can you not just use your card for purchases to get rid of the credit?

They advised me to go back into a branch on the telephone and they did not ask me any security questions, they didn't even ask me my credit card number!!

I would prefer the money to go where it should have went but I wasn't thinking correctly because there was a sudden death in the family recently.

The credit card company should be able to return it, contact the credit card company direct. Sometimes using the credit isn't always that simple for example the OP may need it for direct debits or to use where a credit card cannot be accepted.

I did contact the credit card company and they said the branch would sort it. The branch said if I telephoned Santander credit card services they would sort it. Seems like I am being sent back and forth between them.

However, I have now transferred money into my bank account (that I had saved for other bills which are not due until the end of September/start of October) so I'll spend the money of the credit card and as I do I will drip feed the money back into the savings accounts.

    Thanks for your help!!
