A broker would get the email straight away and deal with it. They would also have access to people at the lender the public wouldn't.
This is the point of a broker. It is their job so it is dealt with. Not after work, it is their work.
You now have a weekend of worry which may never have occurred had you used a broker. It may have done but equally it may have done and been resolved before you heard about it.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Phone them on Monday and I am sure it is a system error. They have 2 different systems and they are in transition. So probably they had to rekey the details, etc.
My mortgage offer was withdrawn by Nationwide after full approval and offer.
Brokers here on this forum first said that they thought I had only an DIP. I advised that it was an offer.
Then brokers here advised that it would be difficult to reverse their decision etc. But I just did!
If you have a good case, you can do it alone. You don't need a broker if you have a spotless credit history etc.
Nationwide even gave me compensation because of their error!0 -
went to the local bank this morning and the manager was on the case straight away. apparently there should be no reason as to why it was stopped. the lady said it may have been a keystroke error thus resulting in it being closed. told her they have a habit of doing this according to internet forums. she did not look happy but, still have to wait till monday.0

after contacting nationwide was told they are using two different systems that don't communicate with each other:mad:. they told me that when one part is finished with it generates an email and letter cancelling that step but, it says mortgage cancelled. A new reference number is generated for the next step so adds more confusion to the process. we have now been given an offer so everything has worked out fine...
cheers for all the replies :T0
