Used Citroen C1 1.0i VT 5DR Air-Con - is this a good deal?
Help!
I really need to buy a new car...my Citroen Saxo (51 plate) is falling apart at the seams (mainly the door where some idiots a while back tried wrenching it open to steal whilst drunk), and I need to upgrade before it gives up the ghost completely.
I've seen a lovely used Citroen C1 1.0i VT 5DR Air-Con that I think I've fallen in love with.....I do about 99% town driving so the spec suits me....but wondered if it's a good deal currently priced at £5,299?
Year/Reg:2011 (11)
Mileage:30,000
Engine size:1.0L
Fuel type:Petrol
Gearbox:Manual
Body style:Hatchback
Colour:Blue
5 Doors, Manual, Hatchback, Petrol, 30,000 miles, Metallic Blue, 1 Owner. Full Service History, 3 Month warranty, Air conditioning, ABS, Power assisted steering, Radio/CD, Auxiliary audio input, Adjustable steering column/wheel, Drivers airbag, Passenger airbag, Child locks, Cloth upholstery, Folding rear seats, Tinted glass, Rear wiper, Front head restraints. Insurance Group:1
I'm fortunate that I can pay cash (well deposit on CC (I assume £500) and the balance either by bank transfer or debit card (and don't need financing), and also would like to P/E mine (I'm assuming about £500 P/E).....
So was thinking of offering £4,500? Do you think this would be accepted? Could I go lower / should I go higher?
Really appreciate your help!

You can try to get £500 for a car that in your own words "is falling apart at the seams", but they will only be taking it off the price of the car. I doubt they will knock 15% off the screen price as well as a high part-ex price on a popular model.
I'd be tempted to take the Saxo out of the equation and stick it on Gumtree/Ebay.
Do some homework on prices for that model within 50 miles and go in with that and haggle lower. If they won't budge on the price, there's thousands of other C1/107/Aygos about on the market, so you don't have to settle for a slightly higher than average miler.0 -
Your not going to get £800 knocked off.
With your car as PX If you pay £4800 you will have done very well.
But would expect you will be paying £5000
£5299 is not cheap either. Here a cheaper example with less miles.

Look around, there are plenty of these for sale. 30,000 in two years is a lot, so compare it with lower mileage examples. The aircon is a definate positive, these cars are like saunas in summer and in winter the condensation is a nightmare, aircon solves the problem.
If you take it further check the front brakes carefully, if they haven't been changed they will probably need to be.
Aygos is an option, but they suffer from water ingress and are generally more expensive.0 -
Try Citroen and Peugeots approved used, you get a 12 month warranty included with Citroens whatever the age and they do tend to give good part-ex prices.

Thank you all for your suggestions and advice - I really appreciate it!
There is a 3dr model, 2011, 20,000 miles, also airco....at £5,499 close to me which i'm also going to look at and see how that compares to my original.
I'm not as keen on aygo's although am happy to view and test drive before making my mind up......and am definitely going to look at peugeots as well now - I hear you get a lot for your money with a peugeot!
Thanks all!0 -

Thanks for the links! Must admit red makes them look quite sporty....and not as bland as some of the other city car models :-)0
