Drapery arm/Portiere

Hi. I am looking ahead to the winter to try and draught proof our wooden front door. It is in a very narrow hallway, only just wider than the door. I have been looking at swing arm drapery rods which swing out of the way when the door is opened. However, I am a little bothered thinking that when it has a curtain on, will the free end start to dip with the weight (which would drive me nuts!). The alternative is a Portiere rod which is supported at both ends, but I am worried that the extra metalwork will dig into the plasterboard wall behind the door when it is opened as it seems quite a chunky affair.
Does anyone have any experience of either of these please? Many thanks in advance

Hi
I think from memory that portiere rods fasten to the door so when the door moves the entire rod moves with it. We have very old walls which dont like anything fixed to them and have a drapery arm rod over the front door which had to be fixed into the stones and I worry about every time anyone steps on the door curtain, if I could find a portiere rod in the right size I would go for this
hope this helps
