Thanks everyone!
Had a look at a few and have booked in to Bar Boulud in the Mandarin Oriental. I know it's Frenchband that doesn't usually appeal but the menu (ok, the burgers!!) looks amazing!
Can't wait now!
Just had a look at the menu. Considering the location in a top-end hotel in Knightsbridge, the prices look fairly reasonable. Perhaps the Chancellor should have got his burger from there.0 -

The burgers ARE amazing. I'm sure you will enjoy it (and will be well under budget too, very MSE)

The burgers are reasonable, in all sense of the word, but I wouldnt have said it was anything special nor a place to dress up for. It is the casual bar option at the Mandarin with the Mandarin Bar and Dinner being the more formal bar/ restaurant respectively.
I'd, unusually, rather follow the chancellor and go for Byron if it was a burger that I wanted.
I certainly wouldnt say not to go, and I have been several times before, but I go because someone else has invited me. Just want to make sure your expectations are managed0 -

I love the Piggie burger there and prices for food aren't too unreasonable. However, drinks are pricey. I know it's in the Mandarin and its not going to be cheap but last time I was there a coke cost about £4 and it was a tumbler filled with ice and can't have had more than half a can of coke amount in it.
I've only been on lunch times before and each time I've been surrounded by business men (tables are very close) so the atmosphere wasn't great. However, evenings might be better. Despite that it is my favourite burger in London, much better than Meat Liquor which was a let down for burgers.0 -
Gordon Ramseys resteraunt " Petrus" is the mutts nuts , they do an afternoon set price menu for around £40(ish) if you book it in advance , the service is amazing, the food is excellent , the surroundings are very stylish and if you want to dress up and be made to feel like a VIP this is the one for you , I have been to many resteraunts and this one really rates at the top of the pile, think its no 1 on trip advisor as well
ETA after reading the other posts I'm not sure if this is for you , they all seem to be about burgers !!!!!! ! I thought you wanted a resteraunt not a jazzed up MaccyD's0 -

Daniel Boulud is hardly Ronald McDonald. As you've not been yourself you can't really comment.
OP, I've been to a couple of other Daniel Boulud restaurants around the world and the food is very good at the London one.
Although I've not been to the London one, I've had several good meals at L'Atelier de Joel Robouchon in the past.0 -
If it's a burger you want, and you want a nice restaurant to eat it in rather than one of the many Meat Liquor-esque places that have sprung up around London in recent years, my choice would have to be Goodman (branches in Mayfair, City, Canary Wharf). OK, it's not cheap (£15 including chips), but it's one of the best burgers I've found.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
Could also check out Bodeans http://www.bodeansbbq.com/ or Pit cue in Soho http://www.pittcue.co.uk/home/ < get there early though as theres always a , erm queue, but the food is top notch and a proper treat. I dont go there enoughDont rock the boat

Been to La Chapelle and Windows and had excellent service. They also do great and very reasonable set menus.
Perfect for a special occasion.
Edit - Just realised you booked somewhere! Have a lovely time!!0
